What was the best part of the programme for you?

Finding out I was pre-diabetic was made less daunting thanks to this course. There is plenty of well-organised help out there and I now have the support to do something about being pre-diabetic.

What was the hardest part of the programme for you?

I think the hardest part for me was actually looking at my food intake; not so much what I was eating but the amount that I was eating. For example, if I was cooking, I would plan to eat half and then freeze the other half. But in reality, I’d eat half and then end up eating the other half whilst I left it out to cool down. Now I’m realising that I need to be careful with how much I eat.

What did you think of the support groups?

So far, I’m very impressed with the support group. We are all interacting well with one another and it’s been well presented.

Did you find the plan easy to follow?

It’s so simple and easy, if you stick at it and follow the plan, the results will be obvious.

Did you feel supported throughout the process?

I was definitely supported. Any questions I asked were answered, no problems at all. Everyone in the group was just as supportive as the coaches.

How has the programme changed your life?

I’m only 4 weeks into the programme and I’ve made a concerted effort to lose weight. I became a bit stagnant since retiring, not being as active as I used to be. This programme was the kick in the butt that I needed to change my lifestyle and do something about it before it was too late.

Will you continue to follow the programme now you have finished?

I definitely will follow all programme until the conclusion.

Would you recommend the programme to others, and why?

I would definitely recommend it. It tackles everyone’s fears and worries about diabetes. It turned out that diabetes is obviously serious, but it’s not as big of a monster as you think it is. With the support of the facilitator and everybody in the group, the situation that you are in becomes a lot easier to understand.
