Xyla has been delivering the NHS Type 2 Path to Remission Programme since June 2023. The programme aims to help those recently diagnosed to reverse their type 2 diabetes and come off diabetes-related medication.
It is intended for those who have been diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic within the last six years and have a body mass index of 27 kg/m2 or higher in people from a white background, or 25 kg/m2 for those from all other ethnic backgrounds. Blood sugar levels, or HbA1c to use the clinical term, need to be 43 -87 mmol/mol for those taking diabetes medication and 48-87 mmol/mol for those not taking diabetes medication.
Referrals to the programme can be made by trained clinicians (GPs, pharmacists and diabetic nurses).
