What did you enjoy about the programme?
Coming to the programme each week to learn about the different topics.
What was the most enjoyable session?
I enjoyed learning about the organs in the body and learning about the different types of diets, such as the Mediterranean diet.
Do you feel confident in making healthier choices with food and exercise?
Yes, this has given me a good reason to continue to eat healthier and exercise frequently.
How will you continue the hard work you have put in while being on our programme?
I have been motivated to do more exercise as I know this will be beneficial to my health. I am continuing to do dancing and I’ve been doing extra walking since starting the programme.
Has it increased your awareness of T2D?
Yes, this programme focuses your mindset to move forward in making new changes and knowing what is best for you. Meaning I am now able to make the right decisions, in my own time, to reduce my risk of Type 2 diabetes.
Would you recommend this programme to others?
Yes, I would tell them to come with an open mind. Listen to what the facilitator has to say, this will benefit you in the long run. You may have to think a bit different from the way you usually think.
Did you face any difficulties whilst changing your lifestyle? How did you overcome these?
No, there were no difficulties as I had started to make changes before coming onto the programme. The programme got me more focused and I felt able to make positive changes throughout the programme.
How did you feel the facilitators were at the sessions?
The facilitators were very good. They were able to control and gauge the conversation to ensure everyone understood the topic of the week, regardless of your background and knowledge.
